Join the waitlist and become the difference

The waitlist for Acton Academy Hudson ensures a fair and transparent process for enrolling committed families in our learner-driven, innovative elementary school. By joining the waitlist, families express interest and take steps to demonstrate their commitment, allowing us to confidently secure a location and hire a studio guide for the 2026/27 school year.

  • Admission to the waitlist is open to all eligible families regardless of race, religion, gender, or socioeconomic status, in line with Acton Academy’s inclusive values.

  • A $50 non-refundable waitlist fee per family is required to join, signaling initial commitment and covering administrative costs.

  • The fee does not guarantee enrollment but secures a spot on the waitlist.

  • Commitment confirmation period: January 1–February 28, 2026.

  • Final enrollment decisions: March 15, 2026.

  • School year start date: September 1, 2026.

Families who complete all commitment steps (application, fee, information session, deposit, and audition) by the deadline will be prioritized for enrollment.

  • If more families complete the commitment steps than available spots, priority will be based on:

    • Date of waitlist application submission.

    • Demonstrated alignment with Acton Academy’s mission during the interview.

  • Families who do not complete all steps by the deadline may remain on the waitlist but lose priority.

  • Families will receive confirmation of their waitlist position within 5 business days of submitting the application and fee.

  • Regular updates on school planning, timelines, and next steps will be sent via email.

  • Families must respond to requests for information or scheduling within 5 business days to maintain their active status on the waitlist.

  • Open to families with children aged 5–11 (Kindergarten through 5th grade) at the start of the school year.

  • Families must reside within a reasonable commuting distance to Hudson, WI, or be willing to relocate.

  • Alignment with Acton Academy’s learner-driven philosophy, emphasizing self-paced learning, independence, and a growth mindset.

  • The initial waitlist will target 10–20 families to ensure a viable founding cohort for the first year.

  • Priority is given to families who complete all commitment steps by the specified deadlines.

  • Families must complete an online waitlist application form, including contact information and child(ren)’s details (name, age, grade level) and a brief statement (200 words or less) on why they are interested in Acton Academy Hudson

  • Payment of the $50 waitlist fee.

  • Submission of the application and fee secures a family’s position on the waitlist, prioritized by the date of completion.

To ensure families are fully committed and to support the school’s planning for a location and guide, families must complete the following steps during the commitment confirmation period:

  • Meet for an Informational Interview: Participate in virtual or in-person Q&A session to learn about Acton Academy’s model, curriculum, and expectations by February 14, 2026.

  • Complete a Family Audition: Schedule and attend a 30-minute virtual or in-person interview with the founding team to discuss alignment with Acton Academy’s values and answer questions. Interviews will be conducted between January 1, 2026–February 21, 2026.

  • Submit a Commitment Deposit: Pay a $500 refundable deposit by February 28, 2026. This deposit:

    • Secures a family’s enrollment spot, pending final invitation and acceptance.

    • Is refunded if the school cannot open or if the family is not invited to join.

    • Is used to secure your child’s enrollment and invest in classroom equipment and project materials..

  • Families may withdraw from the waitlist at any time by notifying admin@actonacademyhudson.org

  • The $50 waitlist fee is non-refundable. 

  • The $500 commitment deposit is refundable only if the school does not open or if the family is not invited to join.

  • Families selected for enrollment will receive an invitation by March 15, 2026.

  • To accept, families must sign an enrollment agreement and pay the first month’s tuition as a deposit by April 15, 2026.

  • Failure to accept by the deadline may result in the spot being offered to another family.

The waitlist process is designed to ensure a committed founding community, enabling Acton Academy Hudson to secure a suitable location and hire a qualified guide.
